These Tutor Terms and Conditions ("Tutor Terms") are additional terms that apply specifically to tutors, educators, and instructors ("Tutors") who register on and use TutorHub SG, a platform operated by Tutorhub Lab Pte. Ltd. ("TutorHub SG", "we", "us", or "our"), a company incorporated in Singapore. By creating a tutor profile or offering tuition services through the Platform, you agree to comply with these Tutor Terms in addition to our general Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
1. Tutor Responsibilities & Warranties
As a Tutor on the Platform, you represent, warrant, and agree that:
- You are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work and provide tuition services in Singapore.
- All profile details, biographical information, subject expertise, and availability claims are truthful and accurate.
- All academic degrees, certificates, teaching qualifications, and experience statements are genuine and correct.
- You possess all necessary rights, licenses, permits, and permissions required to offer and perform tuition services in Singapore.
- You will perform all tuition services in a professional, competent, safe, and respectful manner.
- You are solely responsible for compliance with all tax obligations (including IRAS declarations) and legal duties arising from your tuition income.
2. Uploading Certificates & Credentials
Tutors may upload academic transcripts, degree certificates, teaching diplomas, government-issued identity documents, or MOE service records to request credential verification badges. By submitting these documents:
- You authorize TutorHub SG (or its third-party verification partners) to review and cross-check your documents against official institution registries.
- You confirm that the information and documents provided are true, accurate, and belong to you.
- You acknowledge that submitting forged, altered, or fraudulent documents, or making false declarations, will result in the immediate and permanent termination of your Platform account.
- You acknowledge that presenting false qualifications or forged documents to secure students may constitute an offence under Singapore law (including the Penal Code 1871) and may be reported to the police or relevant authorities.
- You acknowledge that your documents are transmitted over encrypted connections and stored in access-controlled, encrypted storage, are used solely for identity and credential verification, and — where shared with a parent following your approval — are displayed as watermarked, view-only copies to deter unauthorized copying or distribution (see our Privacy Policy).
3. Independent Contractor Status & Performance Disclaimer
Tutors operate as completely independent service providers. Nothing in these Tutor Terms or the general Terms of Service shall be construed as creating an employer-employee relationship, joint venture, partnership, agency, or franchise agreement between you and TutorHub SG or its affiliate companies. You have no authority to bind the Platform, and we do not supervise, direct, or control your lesson delivery, rates, or schedules. The tutorship is arranged directly between you and the parent or student. You acknowledge that TutorHub SG, the website, and its affiliate companies are not your employer, client, partner, or agent, and are in no way responsible or liable for the work or job performed, your safety, student behaviour, or lesson outcomes. You agree to hold TutorHub SG and its affiliates entirely harmless from any claims, injuries, losses, or disputes arising from lessons you conduct.
4. Subscription & Platform Fees
TutorHub SG operates a no-commission model: we charge Tutors a subscription and/or premium listing fee for access to the Platform, and we do not take a commission on your lesson fees.
- Subscription fees, premium placement packages, and listing fees are published clearly on our pricing page.
- All subscription payments are processed securely through our third-party payment processor. Tutors are responsible for maintaining valid payment credentials.
- Subscription fees are billed in advance and are non-refundable except where required by Singapore consumer protection laws.
- TutorHub SG reserves the right to introduce or vary transaction or payment-processing fees in the future, including in connection with the integrated payment and escrow services described in Section 5. Any such fees applicable to Tutors will be clearly disclosed before they take effect. Please refer to our general Terms of Service — Section 14 (Transaction Fees & Payment Processing) for full details.
5. Lesson Payments, Escrow & Payouts
Where a parent pays for a lesson through the Platform's integrated checkout, payments are processed and held by our third-party payment processor, Stripe, using connected-account and escrow-style arrangements. TutorHub SG does not itself take custody of these funds; they are held and settled by Stripe.
- To receive Platform payouts, you must complete Stripe Connect onboarding and provide accurate payout and identity information as required by Stripe.
- Funds for a paid lesson are held for a protection window (currently approximately 48 hours after the scheduled lesson) before being released to your connected account, to allow for cancellations, disputes, or refunds. Release timing may vary based on processing and platform configuration.
- Refunds, chargebacks, and payment disputes for Platform payments are handled in accordance with our Terms of Service and Stripe's applicable terms. You authorize TutorHub SG to instruct refunds or reversals from held or future funds where a booking is cancelled, a dispute is upheld, or fraud is suspected.
- You remain solely responsible for declaring and paying any taxes on income received, whether via the Platform or otherwise.
- Not all billing models use Platform escrow. Where you and a parent agree to bill by cash, PayNow, invoice, or another off-Platform method, Section 9 applies and TutorHub SG holds no funds and bears no responsibility for those payments.
6. Session Recordings & Consent
Where online lessons are recorded through the Platform, recording is strictly consent-based and governed by our Recording Policy:
- A lesson may only be recorded where both the Tutor and the parent (on behalf of the student) have provided consent, which is logged for compliance with the PDPA.
- Either party may decline or withdraw consent before a lesson begins.
- Recordings are stored securely, are accessible only to the lesson's participants through the Platform (no public links or downloads), are watermarked, and are automatically and permanently deleted after the retention period stated in our Privacy Policy.
- You must not separately record, screenshot, redistribute, or publish any lesson, student, or parent content without appropriate consent, and must comply with all applicable privacy and child-protection obligations.
7. Reviews & Ratings Moderation
Tutors acknowledge that parents and students who have completed lessons with them may leave reviews, comments, and ratings. TutorHub SG reserves the right (but is not obligated) to moderate reviews:
- We will remove reviews that contain abusive, threatening, obscene, or defamatory language.
- We will investigate and may remove reviews that are proven to be fraudulent, spam, or malicious (e.g. left by competitors).
- All review removals or moderation decisions are at TutorHub SG's sole discretion.
8. Background Checks
Where background checks or screening services are offered on the Platform, they are provided on an informational basis only. TutorHub SG relies on third-party public registries and verification agencies. We do not guarantee the absolute completeness, currency, or accuracy of any background checks. Parents and students are always encouraged to perform their own verification checks.
9. Off-Platform Payments & Disputes Disclaimer
This Section applies where a Tutor and a parent or student arrange payment outside the Platform's integrated checkout (for example, cash, PayNow, bank transfer, or direct invoicing). In those cases, TutorHub SG and its affiliate companies are not involved in, and bear no responsibility or liability for, fee payments, student attendance, or scheduling changes made outside the Platform's booking and payment tools. You are solely responsible for managing payment terms, tracking lesson attendance, and resolving any scheduling or payment disputes directly with the parents or students who engage you. For off-Platform arrangements, TutorHub SG and its affiliate companies do not hold any funds in trust, do not manage payment schedules, and are in no way responsible or liable for any payment defaults, late payments, or payment disputes. You engage clients at your own risk.
10. Suspension & Termination
TutorHub SG may suspend, restrict, or permanently terminate your account, with or without prior notice, if we reasonably believe you have breached these Tutor Terms, provided false information or documents, engaged in fraud or unsafe conduct, or where required by law. You may stop using the Platform and request account closure at any time. Certain records (such as invoices and consent logs) may be retained as required by law or for legitimate business purposes, as described in our Privacy Policy.
